Indian Air Force invites online application from eligible Indian citizens to be a part of Indian Air Force as Commissioned officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non Technical) Branches.

IAF (Indian Air Force) has released 256 vacancies for the recruitment in Technical and Non Technical Branches. Online Application starts on 15th June and closes on 14th July through https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in or https://afcat.cdac.in

Online applications are invited for the courses commencing in July 2021 for 
grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent 
Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Technical 
and Non-Technical) Branches. Online applications are also invited for grant of 
PC/ SSC for NCC Special Entry Scheme (For flying branch) and for Meteorology 
Entry.

1. Branch : Flying
Course No: SSC for Man & Woman
Vacancies: SSC-74

2. Branch : Ground Duty Technical
Course No: PC for Man
Vacancies: AE(L) : PC - 40, SSC - 26
Course No: SSC for Man & Woman
Vacancies: AE(M) : PC - 23, SSC - 16

3. Branch : Ground Duty Non Technical
Course No: PC for Man
Vacancies: AE(L) : Admin : PC - 23, SSC - 16
Course No: SSC for Man & Woman
Vacancies: AE(L) : Edn : PC - 08, SSC - 08

NCC Special Entry:
Branch : Flying
Course No: PC for M
Course No: SSC for Man & Woman
Vacancies: 10% seats out of CDSE vacancies for PC and 10% seats out of AFCAT vacancies for SSC.

Meteorology Entry:
Branch : Meteorology 
Course No: PC for Man 
SSC for Man & Woman
Vacancies: Met : PC - 10, SSC - 12



Type of Commission:

 (a) PC (Permanent Commission) for Men: Candidates joining as PC officers would continue to serve till the age of superannuation as per their branch and rank.

(b) SSC (Short Service Commission) for Men & Women:
(i) The engagement period for Flying Branch SSC officers is fourteen 
years from the date of Commissioning (Non extendable). 

(ii) The initial tenure for SSC officers in Ground Duty (Tech and Non-Tech) branches would be for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted subject to service requirements, 
availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability and merit.

Age Requirements for AFCAT 02/2020:

(a) Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2021. Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 year 

(b) Ground Duty (Technical/ Non-Technical) Branches: 20 to 26 years
as on 01 July 2021 i.e. born between 02 July 1995 to 01 July 2001.


Educational Qualifications for AFCAT 02/2020:

1. Flying Branch:  (a)Minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level.

(b)Graduation (three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

(b) Ground Duty Technical Branches: 

Aeronautical Engineering Electronics AE(L): Candidates having a minimum 60% marks each in Physics and Math at 10+2 level with a minimum 4 year degree graduation/ integrated post graduation qualification in engineering/ Technology from a recognized university.

Aeronautical Engineering Machenical AE(M): Candidates having a minimum 60% marks each in Physics and Math at 10+2 level with a minimum 4 year degree graduation/ integrated post graduation qualification in engineering/ Technology from a recognized university.

(c) Ground Duty Non-Technical Branches:
Administration:Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Education: MA/M.Sc degree in English/Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Statistics/International Relationships/International Studies/Defence Studies/Psychology/Computer Science/IT/Management/MBA/MCA/Mass Communication/Journalism/Public Relations with a minimum 50% marks in agreegrate and 60% marks in Graduation. (Both from a recognized University)

Meteorology: Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream with a minimum of 50% marks. And 55% marks in Graduation both from a recognized university.


Marital Status: Candidates below 25 years of age should be unmarried. Widows/divorcies blow 25 years of age are not eligible.

Selection Procedure of AFCAT 02/2020: The candidates will be selected based on written test and SSB Interview.

Application Fee of AFCAT 02/2020:
Exam Fee - 250 (Not Refundable)
NCC  Special Entry & Meteorology - No fee.
